Another year around the sun, and our downtown Ambassadors have been on the run! From picking up cigarette butts to providing hospitality assists, they continue to be a recognizable presence in downtown. Here is a look at their stats in 2022 as a breakdown!

July 1 marked the second anniversary of the downtown Rochester Clean and Safe Ambassador Program. While cleaning the downtown portion of the Zumbro River, the Clean and Safe Ambassadors and Rochester Downtown Alliance may have found the second anniversary gift of cotton (in the form of a lost baseball cap). Who needs silver or silk when the group found these lovely “treasures” during the river clean-up July 1!

The Clean and Safe Ambassadors are some of the visible friendly faces you'll likely meet in downtown Rochester. Heading up this team is a new face: Cam Hurd. Let's get to know him, his background, and how it all works together as the new operations manager of this impactful program.

What a year (in more ways than one)! Our Clean and Safe Ambassadors have been hard at work making downtown Rochester clean, safe, and welcoming. With a heightened importance for public spaces during the pandemic, the Clean and Safe Ambassadors put enhanced effort into cleaning and maintaining places like Peace Plaza and Central Park and general spaces throughout the 44 blocks of downtown. While a typical office job is a 40-hour, five-day work week, our downtown Rochester Clean and Safe Ambassadors are out daily for a total of 81 hours a week in downtown Rochester. Even in a Minnesota winter, they focus on these tasks to keep downtown a clean and safe environment for all who visit and work in the 44 blocks of downtown.
