What's New for Ladies' Night Out 2020?

Update as of March 12, 2020: For the safety and health of downtown business employees and attendees, the Rochester Downtown Alliance is postponing Ladies’ Night Out amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) concern. We make decisions like this with the utmost care and consider local, state, and national updates. We look forward to bringing you community events you love soon.

Extra, extra: read all about investing in yourself and enjoying being with friends at Ladies' Night Out March 26 in downtown Rochester. In 2020, the event will focus on inspiring everyone to be his or her best self and have fun doing it. Here are the newest Ladies' Night Out additions!

More Empowering Experiences

"Being Direct in a Passive Aggressive Culture" Seminar

How can we increase productivity in meetings, conversations, and business? By being more direct. Our dislike for confrontation and passive aggressive tendencies can get in the way of self development. In this class, we will discuss how being more assertive can free your true authentic self. Join us for an interactive session on the benefits of being direct, and how to implement this practice in your daily routine. This class is led by Natalie Slagle, founding partner of Fyooz Financial Planning. Natalie spent two years on the west coast at a male dominated company that values directness. Now back in Rochester, Natalie is a firm believer that being 'Minnesota Nice' and direct can coexist.

Etiquette Courses

Sponsored by Winona State University Adult and Continuing Education, these short courses repeated every two hours during Ladies' Night Out will be taught Kim Purscell of Etiquette Matters.

Unlock the Power of Networking (5 & 7 p.m.): The mere thought of making conversation with a stranger is enough to make most people break out in a sweat. The “meeting” people part of networking can be intimidating – because it takes people out of their comfort zone! With our tips and tricks, in no time, you will be ready to “work a room”, represent your company with confidence, and able to build loyal and lasting relationships to ultimately grow your contacts and contracts.
Creating a Killer First Impression (6 & 8 p.m.): Go from ordinary to extraordinary through powerful strategies that will build your confidence, develop your personal brand, and get you noticed for all the right reasons. In a world of limited attention, this training can show you what to do in order to stand out, engage, and influence others!

Creative Meet-Ups

Let the creative juices start flowing at Neon Green Studio within Castle Community. Attendees can decorate a limited edition Ladies' Night Out tote bag. Swing in to The Castle Gallery to experience a featured artist gallery with Katya Roberts: This Side of the Sun's exhibition featuring drawings, video, and 3D installation.

Latte Art Class

Pour like the pros! Latte Art is the signature of an experienced barista and, with this class, you will learn the skills necessary to pour your first designs and know what it takes to be a barista. With three free walk-in classes available (6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m.) and six spots per class at Café Steam's Doubletree location, join in for an evening of fun and coffee.

Self-Defense Lesson

For anyone interested in learning about personal safety, this course is for you! In this class, students will learn basic techniques and methods of self-defense that do not rely on size and strength. Patricia Young with 4Kicks Family Taekwondo will cover personal safety tips that will reduce the likelihood of an assault.

Finding More in Less Session

Ever find life is so FULL that your passions and purpose feel lost? Come discover ways to simplify life and find “well-being” in home, work, relationships and self-purpose. Lead by Jodi Frisk, this session will include an example of a “less is more” smaller, more affordable new construction home that lives LARGE and is available to be built! Along with her will be @theeverydaymae to showcase a “less is more” capsule wardrobe, tips on how to achieve this, outfit examples and a mindful shopping guide. Their goal is to give tips and resources to help guide to living a purposeful life through simplicity. And the hope is that you leave being more aware of what is truly worth your one short, important life.
