Thursdays Downtown Returns: Rochester’s Favorite Summer Tradition is Back
Summer in Rochester isn’t complete without Thursdays Downtown. From June 11 through August 13 (excluding July 2), Downtown Rochester transforms every Thursday into a celebration of music, food, art, shopping, and community. As Southern Minnesota’s largest art, food, and music street festival, Thursdays Downtown brings thousands of residents and visitors together for a full day of fun in the heart of the city.
Stretching along 1st Avenue SW and Peace Plaza from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursdays Downtown offers something for everyone. Whether you’re stopping by during your lunch break, meeting friends after work, or spending the entire day Downtown, you’ll find live entertainment, local vendors, family activities, and delicious street food around every corner.
Live Music All Day Long
One of the biggest draws of Thursdays Downtown is the incredible lineup of live entertainment. With two stages and six performances each Thursday, the festival showcases local favorites, regional touring acts, tribute bands, jazz ensembles, folk musicians, reggae groups, and more.

Special Olympics USA Games Torch Run

Watch as Special Olympics athletes and law enforcement officers carry the Flame of Hope through Downtown Rochester on its journey to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. This inspiring tradition celebrates inclusion, determination, and community spirit.

Tired of dating apps? Meet other singles in Rochester at Pitch-A-Friend on the Peace Plaza stage at Thursdays Downtown! If you’re single, get your friends to sign up to pitch you to the crowd with a fun 3-5 minute slide presentation. If you’re not single, come out and pitch your single friends. You don’t need to pitch or be pitched to attend the event. It will be a night filled with laughter, great vibes, conversations, community and connection! FREE to attend, $5 to pitch your friend.
Shop Local and Discover Something New
Thursdays Downtown is one of the best opportunities to support local makers, artists, and small businesses. More than 50 artisan vendors participate throughout the season, offering handcrafted goods, artwork, jewelry, home décor, specialty foods, and unique gifts.
New this year, the Youth Booth Vendor Program gives aspiring entrepreneurs ages 12–18 the opportunity to showcase and sell their creations. Visitors can discover everything from handmade crafts and artwork to baked goods and custom products while supporting the next generation of local business owners.
A Food Lover’s Paradise
Come hungry. With more than 50 food and beverage vendors participating throughout the season, Thursdays Downtown offers something for every craving. From street food favorites and international cuisine to sweet treats and refreshing beverages, there are endless options to enjoy while exploring Downtown.
