Thursdays Downtown Makes a Move in 2020
With Peace Plaza under construction in 2020, where Thursdays Downtown will be next year is becoming clearer.
Through a thorough vetting process, the preferred option that seems the most feasible activates the following downtown areas:
- 1st Avenue Southwest from 2nd Street Southwest to 4th Street Southwest
- 3rd Street Southwest from the 3rd Street Alley to 1st Avenue Southwest
- 4th Street Southwest from 2nd Avenue Southwest to Broadway Avenue
This Thursdays Downtown 2020 layout option, which has yet to undergo the City of Rochester’s formal permitting process, will be familiar to event attendees as 1st Avenue Southwest is within the current event footprint. The Rochester Downtown Alliance staff believes Thursdays Downtown goers will feel safer with a completely contiguous event layout and will experience exciting new atmospheres within the event footprint. Some aspects of Thursdays Downtown 2020 like the use of two stages will remain the same.
