Ring in the Holiday Season with Here Comes Santa Claus

The holiday season is almost upon us and what better way to celebrate than with a beloved tradition in Downtown Rochester. Here Comes Santa Claus is celebrating its 44th Anniversary on Friday, November 23 in Downtown Rochester, and the holiday spirit will be bigger and brighter than ever. Our warming house partner, Castle Community, events partner, Shops at University Square, and our activities partner, Olmsted Medical Center, have helped us to create a day of festivity for Rochester residents and visitors of all ages.

Beginning at 4PM, take a trolley ride through Downtown Rochester stopping at various locations for festive fun. Make the 'Warming House' the first stop on your journey. Join our partner, Castle Community, inside their brand new space for local artist-inspired holiday crafts, cookie decorating, and even story time with Mrs. Claus. Then, hop on the trolley for caroling in the Peace Plaza, followed by a visit to Santa’s Elves’ Workshop brought to you by Olmsted Medical Center. Write your letter to Santa and watch your favorite holiday film, ELF.

The event we’ve all been waiting for happens at 6PM - Santa’s thrilling rescue! Watch the fire department rescue Santa from atop Old City Hall and then head to the Peace Plaza for the annual tree lighting ceremony by the Mayor of Rochester and Santa Claus himself.

After the tree lighting ceremony, stop into the Shops at University Square for a meet and greet and complimentary photo with Santa. Complimentary holiday treats and cocoa from Caribou Coffee will be provided.

While the event ends at 8pm, the holiday celebration is just getting started! Explore Downtown Rochester all season long and kick off your holiday shopping on Small Business Saturday, happening November 24.

Follow Downtown Rochester MN on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as we release more event details.
