A little bit of harvest is coming to the heart of Downtown Rochester. For a “gourd” time, journey to Fall Fest presented by Altra Federal Credit Union from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 5 in Peace Plaza! Get the inside scoop about the Fall Fest activities and crafts below.
Quintessential Autumn Fun
It’s an unexpected yet inviting sight to see pumpkins in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Downtown. Families with kids of all ages enjoy searching for their just-right pumpkin to take home and to proudly display for the season in the pick-your-own pumpkin patch sponsored by Red Barn Learning Farm. Along with your choice pumpkin and the family, take a seasonal photo by one of the giant pumpkins (make sure to tag Downtown Rochester, MN and to use #FallFest19!). The pumpkin fun continues with Home Solutions Midwest’s Pick a Pumpkin game to win a prize!
Reds, oranges, yellows, and dark greens: these are the best colors of the fall season. These hues will look good on the official Fall Fest bag! Simply fill out an event survey at the Rochester Downtown Alliance tent, take the bag over to Olmsted Medical Center’s craft area, and let creatively flow! Or get a complimentary treat bag from presenting partner Altra Federal Credit Union for your fall haul. Show your Winona State University, Rochester pride by decorating a pennant or take away an art project from Threshold Arts. But the most fun of all will be the Fall Fest interactive mural on which you can add leave your mark!
Test Your Know-How or Try Your Luck
If ability-based activities are more your speed, attempt the geometry-based fun like a Geoboard pumpkin game or marshmallow stick game provided by the Rochester Math Club. The Rochester Grizzlies players will entertain you as well as test your skills with fun games. Have a go at The Gwaltney Group’s cakewalk or try your hand at bingo for prizes. (The Gwaltney Group will also have a photo booth, face painting, and positivity rocks to paint.) Finish your Fall Fest adventures with a game of bean bags with the Rochester Family YMCA.
