Your Dogs Downtown Insider's Guide
Dogs Downtown, presented by the Rochester Downtown Alliance and Subaru of Rochester, is just two days away and everyone’s tails are wagging in anticipation! We’ve got all paws on deck making sure this year is the best one yet, so make sure to stop down on the Peace Plaza, this Saturday, August 4th for a day worth barking about. Read on for a sneak peek of what you can find at this year’s event.
DIVE AT DOGS
Kickoff the day at 11am in the Peace Plaza with every dog’s dream! Subaru of Rochester will be opening the doors of one of their vehicles to reveal hundreds of tennis balls—all for your pup! Start the day with a puppy’s paradise and stick around to enjoy all the activities Dogs Downtown has in store.
DO AND DASH
Ever wanted a paw print keepsake made of your pup? Well, we’ve got you covered! Dogs Downtown will be offering complimentary paw print crafts you can create with your pooch for a memory that lasts forever. If crafts aren’t your thing, we will also have a photo booth set up with costumes for the dogs, and a polaroid-style printer for photos so you can grab a fun shot. Put your pup’s skills to the test at our Agility Course! Many local and regional dog-loving organizations will be setting up booths at Dogs Downtown, so make sure to stop by their booths for activities, giveaways, or merchandise for your bow-wow.

DIMINISH DOGGY DRAMA
Give your dog the day off that they need! Visit our Pup Relaxation Area, with special music by Fernando Ufret and complimentary massages offered by YES Massage, to unwind from the dog days of summer. Head to the grassy area of the Peace Plaza and let your pup leap and be lazy in the puppy pools. Put up your paws and stay a while!
DINE AND DONATE
After all that excitement, you’ll need to grab something to nibble on! Murph’s Hot Dogs, Carroll’s Corn, The Chocolate Twist, and Café Steam will be offering their best bites or beverages for the humans of Dogs Downtown to enjoy. While you’re at it, make sure to stop by our many non-profit booths to see what they’re doing to help the pups of Minnesota. Doberman Rescue of MN, Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue, Small Dog Rescue of MN and Mission 21-Generation Z will all be in attendance.
DOGS SWAG
Don’t leave the day with empty paws. Stop by our Rochester Downtown Alliance tent to grab some Dogs Downtown swag! We will have all sorts of prizes to give away, and our totally “paw-some” Dogs Downtown 2018 t-shirts will be for sale. Also, make sure to stop by our partners’ booths: Presenting Partner, Subaru of Rochester, and our Supporting Partners, Olmsted Medical Center and Winona State University-Rochester.
FETCH A DRINK AT DARK
If you aren’t too doggone tired from the day, keep the dogs out! Visit one of our participating Downtown bars or restaurants after Dogs Downtown ends for a ‘Yappy Hour’. Dog-friendly restaurants will be crafting a special promotion around the event for one day only! Visit our event website for a list of dog-friendly patios and Yappy Hour specials.
