About The Loop
We are one of six restaurants owned by five guys who grew up in Rochester. They call themselves the Rocket Restaurant Group. We carry a good selection of house-crafted cocktails, as well as full bar service. We have a smaller but amazing staff that takes great joy in helping our guests enjoy their meal and have a positive overall experience. Our food menu is friendly to all food preferences and allergies, vegan included.
What does being a small business employee mean to you?
Being a manager to me means I'm trusted. It means someone believes I can make an impact in the profit of their business. I started my position for a few reasons. Customer service is something I know very well. I've been doing it for eight years. My mom did it for more than 20 years and my husband has done it for over 10 years. Another reason is because I like to be organized and in control of certain situations. I enjoy feeling accomplished over the little things like seeing a server make good money and enjoy her job. I also enjoy the big things like beating sales from previous months or years.
What are the daily challenges you face as a female entrepreneur? What has been the biggest reward?
A daily challenge as a female manager is the responsibility of having to remove disruptive people. Working in a restaurant with mostly female employees can sometimes bring in some unusual people. The biggest reward as a manager for me is seeing the success make people happy. When I help a shift go smoothly or fix a customer's complaint and help turn the night around, I feel accomplished. When I overhear the staff say they had a good night and they thank me, know I made a difference for them. Success is happiness.
What one thing have you learned that has served you well over the years?
As a manager, I have learned to listen and relate to people. Being able to understand how someone truly feels helps solve a crisis quicker and more accurately. It also helps staff and guests trust and respect you.
