About the Artist

Suzanne Szucs is an artist, writer and educator currently living and working in Rochester, MN. A recipient of numerous grants and awards, including an Illinois Arts Council Individual Fellowship and two Minnesota State Arts Board Individual Artist Grants, Szucs has shown her work widely. Having traveled and lived in many places, her work tends to be motivated by the environment in which she finds herself. She is drawn to abject beauty and is concerned with breakdown and deterioration in both the environment and the body. Her projects use the body and the landscape as points of reference to question assumptions regarding conventional notions of beauty and the nature of identity. Szucs has taught photography and digital imaging for many years and currently teaches at Rochester Community and Technical College.
