Social Steps Debuts on the Peace Plaza starting June 1 with Free Summer Dancing
Rochester, Minn. --- May 31, 2018 – The Rochester Downtown Alliance (RDA) is excited to kick-off the first season of Social Steps tomorrow, June 1st on the Peace Plaza. Social Steps is a summer dance series featuring free, bi-weekly dance classes taught by Dahl Dance with open dancing afterwards on the Peace Plaza. Each date will be themed and introduce a specific style of dance. A themed custom cocktail will also be available for purchase inside the nearby restaurants, Martini’s at the Kahler Grand and Salute Wine Bar and More. Dance themes for the series include: Swing, Latin, and Ballroom dance. The June 1st class will highlight classic and modern Swing dance.
Social Steps was created to provide a free and fun opportunity for the public to enjoy open-air dancing on the Peace Plaza. “Last summer, we had the opportunity to test social dancing on the Peace Plaza, and in an unexpected result, found that patients at Mayo Clinic truly enjoyed witnessing performances and making new friends in the heart of our city,” said RDA Program Manager Karli McElroy.
With Social Steps, the RDA invites the community to come out, get their groove on, learn something new, and connect with the Downtown community around them.
