Roller Disco’s new downtown location in 2022
ROCHESTER, Minn.—Roller Disco presented by the Rochester Downtown Alliance October 7-8 is moving to a new location downtown.
The second annual event will be hosted on the 300 block of Broadway Avenue South within the roadway.
“As the City of Rochester continues to invest in the economic recovery of our community, we are appreciative of the work of our partner organization, RDA, in creating innovative and fun ways like Roller Disco for residents and visitors to experience all that downtown has to offer from events to entertainment to shopping and other business opportunities,” said Cindy Steinhauser, City of Rochester deputy city administrator.
In 2021, the inaugural Roller Disco was held in Peace Plaza. RDA staff took into consideration feedback from last year’s attendees, who said they wanted more room to skate, when deciding the event’s location this year.
“The RDA is thrilled to be highlighting a new area of downtown by bringing Roller Disco to Broadway. We are truly grateful for the support of our neighbors and City teammates who helped us think creatively to execute this project,” said Holly Masek, RDA executive director. “We look forward to bringing this joyful event back to downtown.”
This year’s Roller Disco will be a two-day event with hours from 4 to 10:30 p.m. October 7 and 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. October 8.
Roller Disco typically features an outdoor roller rink, DJ entertainment, free skate rentals, and more. New this year, RDA staff hopes to work with downtown businesses to create pop-up vendor markets within the Roller Disco-adjacent businesses to create foot traffic during the event.
The RDA would like to thank Mayo Clinic, Townsquare Media, KTTC TV, Think Bank, People’s Food Co-op, Olmsted Medical Center, and ISG for partnering on Roller Disco 2022.
