Screen Printing Workshop with Devon Hugdahl

Participants will receive an introduction to current exhibiting artist Devon Hugdahl's screen printing and printmaking process, design a screen, and go home with their very own prints. This workshop is designed for ages 13 and up. All materials included. No experience needed.
This program is offered in conjunction with our current exhibition, Cyclone: Artist Responses to 100 Years of the History Center of Olmsted County Collection, which brings together art, history, and community narratives to illuminate the past and present.

About the Instructor
Devon Hugdahl is a Rochester-based screen printer whose hand-pulled posters blend bold color and vintage imagery. Working out of his home studio, Hugdahl sources inspiration from public domain materials (wildlife manuals, nurse guides, antique ads) and transforms them into limited-edition gig posters and art prints.
A former preparator at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center and Technical Services staff at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Hugdahl studied Photography and Fine Arts at UW–Milwaukee. He honed his screen-printing skills at Firecracker Studios in Madison, learning under master printer Sam Johnson.
Hugdahl’s work keeps analog printmaking alive in a digital age. Each poster is a celebration of texture, process, and imperfection. His recent projects include a water-themed public awareness series with Minnesota Water Stewards. Hugdahl created a site specific installation as part of the current exhibition Cyclone at Rochester Art Center on view through March 2026.
