Step inside "Home is Where… "during this special Artist Spotlight Tour with Devon Hugdahl, featured in "Cyclone: Artist Responses to 100 Years of the History Center of Olmsted County Collection."
Created in response to a historic Pride flag, this immersive installation invites you beneath a vibrant flag “roof” into a cozy, living-room–like space designed for comfort, reflection, and connection. Guests are encouraged to explore, flip through stories from Rochester’s community, play a record, and even contribute their own response to the prompt: "Home is where…?"
"This installation is directly informed by the pride flag and the fact that many in the LGBTQIA+ community can have a complicated relationship with ancestral home. About the Artist
Devon Hugdahl is a multidisciplinary artist living in Rochester. His work is primarily focused in screen printing, but his background extends through photography and woodworking, and more recently letterpress printing. He has been creating screen printed posters and art on and off for about 20 years. What began as an art of necessity, creating posters promoting his own bands, has evolved into a true passion.
Hugdahl works with local and regional bands, artists, venues, and events to promote their projects through art. He revels in the creative flow of designing, working collaboratively on posters, and in practicing technical skills required to bring those designs to life. Through each new project he pushes his limits as an artist and printermaker, constantly striving for more.
Accessibility
Rochester Art Center strives to be welcoming and accessible for all people. The building has an elevator and three flights of stairs, and all spaces are wheelchair and stroller accessible. Service animals are welcome. A designated quiet space is available on the 3rd floor. Masks are available upon request and guests are encouraged to arrive fragrance free. A range of seating options are available around the building and during programs. There are two gender neutral restrooms located on the second floor.
