Six Mile Grove honors its roots; you’ll catch the influences of MN music’s best - from Bob Dylan to the Jayhawks - but has also forged its own sound and space on a stage. Their longtime friendship and touring with legendary Johnny Cash guitarist Bob Wootton affirmed their uncompromising commitment to their Americana artistry and musicianship.
Featured Artists:
Andrew Hyra: is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He is one half of the folk rock duo Billy Pilgrim with singer, songwriter, and record producer Kristian Bush, and one half of the band Smokin' Novas with Atlanta, Georgia guitarist Brian Bristow.
Billy Pilgrim: Formed in 1990 and named after the protagonist of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five. The duo released major-label albums Billy Pilgrim (1994) and Bloom (1995), featuring popular songs like "Insomniac". Their second album, Bloom, released in 1995. The lead single "Sweet Louisiana Sound" was a critical success, making a full rotation on VH1. At their peak they "traveled all over the world together, just with two acoustic guitars and two voices."[5] Critically the band was compared to various other bands, including The Rembrandts, R.E.M., and the dB's
Miles Nielsen and Kelly Steward of Miles Nielsen and the Rusted Hearts:
The four tracks on Weep & Willow are a little more nakedly autobiographical than what we’ve heard from Nielsen in the past, and the duo’s harmonies echo the raw intimacy of the work of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, which remain the standard-bearer for Americana duets. “The first time I saw hope through someone else's eyes, it started with songs, emotions that felt necessary to release,” Nielsen said in a press release. “Sharing the most personal feelings with another person who had open ears and an open heart. The songs and sounds of Weep & Willow are two hearts connected with one thing in common, the love of an honest song. Lyrical honesty of a man and a woman who found each other in a dark corner of life. With a connection that sings, these are two human beings that breathe life, hope, dreams, and love. That is the sound that makes Weep & Willow.”
Dan Rodriguez: is a soulful Americana/Singer-Songwriter based out of Minnesota. He has built his career living in Minneapolis, but now lives on a homestead in a small town with his wife and our three homeschooled little boys, doing their best to live off the land.
When not on tour or producing artists/bands in his studio, you can probably find him in his wife’s garden asking her what plants are what, playing with their boys in the woods, or practicing any one of his various hobbies (photography, bow hunting, fly fishing, woodworking, making maple syrup, working on his vintage motorcycles, bee-keeping, homesteading), all of which he claims to be a novice. Over the years, he has released several albums and EPs, and had the honor of sharing the stage with some really cool artists & bands, including The Civil Wars, Andy Grammer, Eric Hutchinson, Matt Nathanson, NeedtoBreathe, Augustana, Tyrone Wells, Haley Reinhart, Jon McLaughlin, Will Hoge, Drew Holcomb, Sister Hazel, and more. His songs have lived in a variety of spaces including many television shows, commercials, and movies. Most notably was when Budweiser used his song “I’ll Be Waiting” in a Super Bowl ad. Rodriguez’s latest album, Wander, is the artist’s favorite piece of work to date, and he is so very excited for you to hear it.
