Promotional effort and free trolley service provide new ways to “Explore Rochester’s Downtown”
ROCHESTER, Minn.—The Rochester Downtown Alliance (RDA) is unveiling a new promotional effort—Explore Rochester’s Downtown—and a way to experience all downtown has to offer.
Explore Rochester’s Downtown is the promotion of downtown Rochester as a destination that includes great dining, fun shopping, and lots to do. The promotional effort includes billboards, videos, and more.
One of the ways to explore downtown is to hop on one of two Explore Rochester’s Downtown Trolleys, provided by the Galleria.
“‘Promotion, Activation, and Programming’ is one of the four focus areas to come out of the Downtown Rochester Task Force. Explore Rochester’s Downtown and the trolleys helps accomplish this in a powerful and exciting way,” said Kathleen Harrington, RDA interim executive director. “We are proud to be working on this with the support of the Downtown Rochester Task Force organizations.”
The goal of the trolley system is to provide a complimentary and an enjoyable form of transportation for residents, visitors, and guests to easily navigate and explore downtown. The trolley operates from noon to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. The current route stops along areas of downtown for great places to eat, shop and get to appointments at Mayo Clinic on time. It starts at the Galleria on Broadway, travels to Pasquale’s Neighborhood Pizzeria, stops at Historic 3rd Street, Gonda, and St. Mary’s, and returns to Peace Plaza.
The RDA, along with the Galleria and downtown businesses, will host a press conference at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023, in Peace Plaza to officially kick-off “Explore Rochester’s Downtown” promotional effort and to showcase the trolleys. Media will have an opportunity to check out the trolley and receive a complimentary tour if desired following the press conference.
