PlaceMakers | Rochester Prototyping Festival – Open Call for Proposals
Rochester, Minn. ---May 13, 2016 --- The Rochester Downtown Alliance (RDA), in partnership with Destination Medical Center Economic Development Agency (DMC EDA), is pleased to share PlaceMakers | Rochester Prototyping Festival Call for Proposals is now available.
The Call for Proposals seeks applicants who wish to propose an installation for the September 15-17 prototyping festival. The festival will take place along 3rd Street from Broadway to 3rd Avenue SE. Approximately 12 projects will be selected to receive up to $2,000 to fund each approved prototyping concept.
Deadline for proposals is June 17.
The Call for Proposals focuses on the prototyping festival goals, areas of focus, and the 2016 Theme: Health and the Built Environment. The built environment includes all of the physical parts of where we live and work, including homes, buildings, streets, open spaces and infrastructure. The goals include test ideas, engage the community and demonstrate change. During the public workshop held on April 26th, over 100 participants selected seven focus areas: nature, connection, accessibility, inclusivity, art, food and diversity.
As support and encouragement of the makers is important, the RDA and DMC EDA invite the community to engage in an Idea Jam scheduled for Wednesday, June 1st from 6:00-9:00 p.m. hosted by Studio 324 (324 South Broadway).
We are thrilled to have Ray Boyle and Jake Levitas, OurCity, back with us for a second time as they bring their passion, energy and unique approaches to idea generation. We believe round two will be even more productive in coming up with prototyping ideas.
