'Quality and diversity' a focus in 2017 Thursdays on First & 3rd musical entertainment

Rochester, Minn. --- May 3, 2017 --- The Rochester Downtown Alliance’s (RDA) Thursdays on First & 3rd Summer Market and Music Festival (TOF) returns Thursday, June 1, and with it comes 85 free performances. The names of all 84 performances will be announced at noon, Wednesday, May 3 on the downtown Rochester website.

Over the course of 14 Thursdays, attendees are invited downtown to experience lunchtime performances from 11:30 am – 1 pm on both the First Ave. Stage, presented by Bremer Bank, and the Peace Plaza Stage, presented by Rochester International Airport.

Then at 5 pm, TOF evening entertainment features a total of four bands with headliners beginning at 7 pm on both stages.

Quality and diversity of offerings is a big feature in this year’s entertainment.

“We have artists of international, national, and regional import as well as artists from greater Minnesota, the Twin Cities, the greater southeastern Minnesota area, and the Rochester area,” said Steven Schmidt, general manager for the City of Rochester Music Department and Riverside Concerts.

“Not to be missed is Urbane NoLo Singer/Songwriter Carsie Blanton whose music and look should be a treat,” said Schmidt. “We have a Reggae-based looper, a couple of DJs, Celtic music from Ireland and Nova Scotia, and a straight-ahead Bluegrass band…,” he said.
