FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

15,800 meals to be donated to Channel One through Improv-ICE Buy a Meal, Give a Meal program

ROCHESTER, Minn.—More than 15,500 transactions at downtown Rochester restaurants during the Improv-ICE Buy a Meal, Give a Meal initiative equaled more than 15,000 meals donated to Channel One Regional Food Bank.

Nineteen restaurants participated in the initiative, which recorded 15,594 transactions (dine-in check, take-out order, or gift card purchase) from February 6-14. One of those was Nova Restaurant Group which includes Chester’s Kitchen & Bar, Pescara, and Terza Ristorante and had the highest transactions between the three restaurants during the Improv-ICE timeframe.

“We would like to thank our Rochester locals that came out to support our restaurants over the past week. Once again, our community has risen to the occasion and provided meals to those most in need through Channel One Regional Food Bank,” said Henry Clarin, director of operations for Nova Restaurant Group.

Contributing the funds to donate the meals to Channel One Regional Food Bank was a group of community supporters including Associated Bank, Benedictine Living Center, Bill the Pie Guy, Ellingson Insurance Group, Gwaltney Group, ISG, People’s Food Co-op, and Premier Banks. Together, this group raised $3,950 in community funds, which is  enough to give 15,800 meals to Channel One Regional Food Bank. While the raised funds slightly exceed the number of meals “unlocked” by this program, the full amount raised will be donated to Channel One Regional Food Bank to support their programs.
