FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Here are the item types found during the downtown river clean-up

ROCHESTER, Minn.—The downtown portion of the Zumbro River yielded 11 bags of trash, a Lime scooter, and other large debris items during the clean-up July 1.

Working along the banks and within the downtown special service district portion of the river, the clean-up group consisted of members of the Rochester Downtown Alliance’s Clean and Safe Ambassador team and RDA staff. Once pulled from the river and put into bags, the trash was collected and disposed of by project partners, the City of Rochester’s Public Works department and Litter Bit Better.

The group pulled, collected, and recycled the following items during this year’s clean-up:

  • Eleven bags worth of litter
  • One Lime scooter
  • A storm drain grate
  • Sporting equipment like tennis and golf balls
  • Many Styrofoam containers
  • Countless plastic grocery bags
  • One construction cone
  • Three large pieces of rebar
