Brand New Activities Add to the SocialICE Atmosphere
It may be cold outside, but the good times and great memories bring warmth to SocialICE. We want to help you make those special memories by creating the best night ever. On February 7, 8, & 9, the Rochester Downtown Alliance (along with our awesome partners) is throwing the biggest winter whiteout in town. Join us Downtown and look below to get a glimpse of what SocialICE 2019 has to offer.
Toast to the Cold Temps
SocialICE isn’t SocialICE without the drinks! Seven Downtown bars and restaurants are hosting uniquely themed ice bars with specialty drinks to help keep you warm. From themes like Woodstock to the MN Wild, check out our 2019 SocialICE bar themes here! Life-sized ice sculptures add to the photo op fun, but we won’t reveal those quite yet. You’ll just have to head Downtown to see this year’s glacial creations.
Defrost & Dance
SocialICE caters to a wide variety of musical tastes with live DJs each night. Get ready to defrost your toes and dance with a mix of hits and classics spun with talent and skill that only a live DJ can. The DJ booth is fully dressed in special-effects lighting and pixel-mapped LED screens for a full entertainment experience. After you’ve retired your dancing shoes, check out the LIVE Paint Jam happening on 1st Avenue. Stay tuned to the SocialICE Facebook event page for more on this totally cool addition.
Chill Out
Take a break from all the action and chill out with one of our many activities. Put your skills to the test and play Jumbo Jenga or bean bags with a group of friends, or try out one of our LED hula hoops to get the blood flowing. Gather around the warm fire pits provided by Kraus-Anderson if you need a warm up in between.
Polar Pictures
They say a picture’s worth a thousand words, so skip the character count and post a #SocialICE selfie. Our giant SocialICE letters are great for showing off to your Facebook friends how much fun you’re having or use the Wall of ICE as the background for your group photo. Once you’ve got the perfect picture, make sure to tag us and use #SocialICE to enter our 2019 photo contest - more details coming soon!
Thaw Out & Stay Awhile
Visit ‘The Clubhouse’, our giant igloo warming house, presented by Somerby Golf Club to warm up on the west side of the Peace Plaza, or grab a bite on the go at their tent! After that, take your group to the east side of the event to spend time under the string-lit Party Pergola, brought to you by Rochester Area Builders, to enjoy your toasty drink!
SocialICE FAM JAM
Brand new this year, our first ever SocialICE FAM JAM! Start the SocialICE celebrations early by heading to the Peace Plaza on February 9 from 1PM-4PM for an afternoon filled with family-friendly ice bar themed activities, a scavenger hunt, exploration tables, eskimo yoga, and much more.
