Meet our Partners: Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota

Thursdays on First & 3rd is quickly becoming a downtown Rochester summer tradition. With its unique selection of artisan vendors, delicious street eats, and energetic live entertainment, our partners like Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota team up with the Rochester Downtown Alliance to make Rochester's summer tradition possible.

Founded in 1954, the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota (EFMN) is a non-profit organization that offers programs and services to educate, connect and empower people affected by seizures. EFMN leads the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures and save lives.

EFMN is proud to take part in Thursdays on First in Rochester! The foundation connects people affected by seizures, provides access to resources and creates opportunities to learn more about epilepsy within the community. Through these efforts, EFMN envisions a world where people with epilepsy realize their full potential.

Mayo Clinic is one of only 200 Level 3 or 4 epilepsy centers in the country. The Rochester area is brimming with bright medical minds, as well as people living with seizures. EFMN is here to educate, connect and empower people in the region.

One in ten people will have a seizure in their lifetime, and one in 26 will develop epilepsy. It’s important for people to know how to respond. EFMN offers FREE training for school bus drivers, teachers, nurses, coaches and workplaces in Rochester and surrounding areas.

Contact Lisa Winkowski, EFMN’s dedicated staff member in Rochester who helps people rise above seizures at lwinkowski@efmn.org or 507.287.2103 if you are interested in a FREE seizure first aid training. People in the area can also attend educational workshops, support groups, fun events for families and EFMN’s annual Rise Above Seizures Walk on Thursday, August 11.
