If you have been down to Thursday’s on First and 3rd this year, you know how great some of our vendors are, but this year we want to take the time to highlight a few of the organizations that help make this event possible. Throughout the rest of the summer we will be using our blog and social media accounts to introduce some of our fantastic partners.
Bremer Bank has truly been instrumental to Thursday’s on First & 3rd, not only do they provide a few lucky members of the crowd with a t-shirt, but each week they provide a local nonprofit with their tent space to help them promote their mission and vision to the community. That is truly what giving back is all about and we couldn’t be more grateful for the support of Bremer.
It all started with Otto Bremer, a German immigrant, who began his career as a bookkeeper at the National German American Bank in St. Paul, eventually rising to the role of chairman. Over the years, Otto invested in independent and rural banks, fulfilling a passion for helping smaller banks succeed and flourish.
Otto’s concern extended to the communities surrounding his banks. He wanted to increase the benefits of living in a community with a Bremer Bank, and he believed passionately in giving back: “To serve our clients, we must also serve their communities.”
The Otto Bremer Trust (OBT) is a private charitable trust, established in 1944 by founder Otto Bremer, a successful banker and community and business leader. OBT is the 92 percent owner of Bremer Bank and also manages a diversified investment portfolio. The returns on these holdings provide the funding for OBT’s grant-making, which supports regional and local resources that benefit the communities that are home to Bremer Banks. In 2016, the Otto Bremer Trust gave more than $47.3 million to nonprofit organizations.
Bremer’s private ownership structure allows them to make long-term strategic business decisions, rather than respond to short-term market pressures, for the lasting vitality and stability of the bank and communities they serve.
In addition to local grants from the Otto Bremer Trust, Bremer donated over $1 million last year to support their local communities across Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. Year after year, Bremer employees volunteer thousands of hours of their time. From helping local food shelves and flood relief efforts, to lending a hand at local charities and nonprofits, Bremer employees help strengthen communities.
Partnering with Bremer presents a world of financial possibilities. From personal and business banking to investments, insurance and trust, Bremer listens to your needs, then finds solutions to help realize your goals.
Bremer is as large or small as you need them to be. They are large enough to offer significant resources, yet small enough to deliver the personal attention and individualized solutions you deserve.
Bremer employees are relationship managers who truly care about helping you and establishing a long-term partnership. By creating a culture where employees feel valued, Bremer employees, in turn, value their clients. When you put your trust in Bremer, you experience an unparalleled level of service, commitments you can count on and a partner who understands your needs and the needs of your community.
