Thursdays on First & 3rd Partner Series with IBM Rochester

IBM has been a part of the Rochester community since 1956. For 107 years, the company has excelled in bringing technology solutions to life, generating thousands of patents along the way. IBM Rochester is proud to partner with Thursdays on First & 3rd this summer, as they thank their employees and celebrate with the community in a bright and vibrant setting enhanced by great food and music.

Thursdays on First & 3rd would not be possible without the support of businesses in the Rochester community. Thanks to the Rochester International Airport and our numerous other partners, we bring musicians, artists, craftspeople, and restaurateurs together, uniting residents and visitors alike.

INTRODUCING IBM

A 107 year old technology company, IBM Corporation established its first facility in the Midwest when it chose Rochester in 1956. Since that time, their employees have excelled in bringing technology solutions to life, generating thousands of patents along the way to be a leader in Minnesota, and winning national awards for technology and quality. IBM is proud of the role they've played in bringing high profile computer technology to the market, including the AS/400 midrange server (now celebrating 30 years strong as IBM i), the BlueGene family of supercomputers, processor chips that powered the gaming market and the world's fastest computers - including Summit, just announced June 8 - and now their IBM Watson Health team is truly making a difference around the world, helping doctors and cancer patients with cognitive solutions.

ABOUT THURSDAYS

“IBM Rochester is proud to partner with Thursdays on First & 3rd this summer, as we thank our employees and celebrate with the community in a bright and vibrant setting enhanced by great food and music. “Please stop by our demonstration area on Historic 3rd Street to chat with experts and view current technology including the Summit supercomputer, POWER9, Internet of Things, and Watson Health. We'll also have free balloons for the kids! “In addition, we will be sharing information about our IBM Volunteers program, and the Call for Code global initiative - helping to mitigate disasters by building global solutions for disaster preparedness, and part of a multi-year initiative to solve some of the world's most pressing problems, beginning this summer. We look forward to seeing you there!”

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

IBM is proud to support Rochester area organizations and beyond through their annual community grant program which rewards volunteer efforts. With more than 47,000 Minnesota IBMer and IBM retiree volunteer hours recorded in 2017, they were able to award $327,000 in community grants to non-profits and schools in the state.
