FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rochester Downtown Alliance Champions Second Annual Small Business Saturday in Downtown Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. --- November 9, 2015 --- The Rochester Downtown Alliance (RDA) lends its support to Small Business Saturday® and drives commerce to downtown Rochester. Small Business Saturday, taking place on November 28, is a day dedicated to strengthening the community by supporting local small businesses.

The RDA is assisting the celebration of small businesses in downtown Rochester by working together with small businesses to offer special one-day-only deals and sales as well as a special Shop Small Passport activity. A full list of participating stores, special deals, and sales are available at www.DowntownRochestermn.com/sbs.

Shoppers or as we like to call them, “Shop Small Supporters,” are encouraged to visit at least four of the participating Small Business Saturday stores and collect a stamp on their free downtown Rochester Shop Small Passport. The Shop Small Passport will be available at any of the participating stores on November 28. After collecting four stamps, Shop Small Supporters can drop off their Shop Small Passport at any of the participating stores for a chance to win a $100 downtown gift card or one of two $50 downtown gift cards redeemable at over 70 downtown Rochester locations.

The RDA recognizes the importance of supporting small businesses in downtown Rochester, the jobs they help create, and the culture they instill in local communities. According to the U.S. Small Businesses Administration, as of 2014, small businesses nationwide accounted for 63% of net new private-sector jobs created and represented 99.7% of all employer firms.1 In 2014, Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede officially declared the last Saturday in November as "Small Business Saturday."
